| The 1996 inaugural Alfred
Dunhill Championship produced the first non-Southern African
winner - German Sven Struver. Persistent rains forced the event to be
shortened to 54 holes. Struver came back from seven shots behind Ernie with an astonishng
birdie spree to shoot 63 (not a course record because of the 'lift, clean
